Events for 2018

With things getting back to normal for the New Year, I will go through the events we have planned so far for 2018.

Our first event will be 3rd March will be a Medieval Themed Meet-Up at Hyde Park, and then walking to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to see the Lady and the Unicorn Tapestry exhibit.

Many of our members will be going to the Jane Austen Festival in Canberra in April, so expect some fun photos from there.

And in May we will have a visit to the Powerhouse Museum, to visit the Lace Study Centre as well as the Wedding Dress Exhibition and one they have about men’s fashion coming up.

Season’s Greetings!

This year has been a fairly big one for the Historical Picnic Society. Our membership has increased and we have held more events. I want to wish everyone the best for the holidays and to look forward to more costuming and more events in 2018.

This is what we possibly have to look forward to:

And hopefully we will be getting more tutorials about costume-making.

Parramatta Park – October 28

We had a lovely day out at Parramatta Park and our visit also included a tour of Old Government House, one of the few Regency Era buildings still standing in Australia. Many of us wore Regency attire, but there were exceptions.

I do recommend a visit and a tour, there are multiple era’s explored within the history.

Regency High Tea Katoomba – 17th September

As part of the Wentworth Falls Regency Weekend in September, the Historical Picnic Society will be hosting a high tea on the 17th September at the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba. This will be from 2.30pm until 5pm, a good way for a final get together before we leave the mountains.

Prices and details are as follows on the website of the hotel. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP through Facebook no later than August the 19th to secure numbers.
