Our next event will be this Saturday, 3rd March. We will be meeting at Hyde Park around 11am and then proceeding to the Art Gallery around 1pm.
Hope to see you there!
With things getting back to normal for the New Year, I will go through the events we have planned so far for 2018.
Many of our members will be going to the Jane Austen Festival in Canberra in April, so expect some fun photos from there.
This year has been a fairly big one for the Historical Picnic Society. Our membership has increased and we have held more events. I want to wish everyone the best for the holidays and to look forward to more costuming and more events in 2018.
This is what we possibly have to look forward to:
And hopefully we will be getting more tutorials about costume-making.
We had a lovely day out at Parramatta Park and our visit also included a tour of Old Government House, one of the few Regency Era buildings still standing in Australia. Many of us wore Regency attire, but there were exceptions.
I do recommend a visit and a tour, there are multiple era’s explored within the history.
After a quick rehearsal that afternoon, we dressed up in our evening attire and attended the Regency ball. So many nice ladies and gentlemen dressed up to the nines.
As part of the Wentworth Falls Regency Weekend in September, the Historical Picnic Society will be hosting a high tea on the 17th September at the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba. This will be from 2.30pm until 5pm, a good way for a final get together before we leave the mountains.
Just a heads up to an event some of us will be going to in the near future, the Wentworth Falls Regency weekend and ball. This will be in September in the Blue Mountains and there is still time to register.
